I’m pleased to announce Mountain Village, Phil Thompson and my first solo show revolving around Chinese copy culture at Neuer Ravensburger Kunstverein. The exhibition explores the phenomenon through video, found objects and ephemera, challenging what is considered original and what is considered fake.

Sebastian Acker and Niko Princen.

Phil and I will present our ongoing research around copied architecture at the Slade.

We will talk about our recent trip to China, show our images and film footage of copy towns and discuss their role in China, architecture and copy culture.

Ersatzmonument is a collaborative work by Elisabeth Rosenthal, Magdalena Fabianczyk and Sebastian Acker exploring representations of sandstone, a material which in the city of Dresden is often associated with a nostalgic longing for a lost past. 

Duveen Travel Scholarship

Phil Thompson and I have been awarded the Duveen Travel Scholarship for a research trip to China. We will visit reproductions of European towns near Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing later this year
